20 Photos To Put A Minnesota Campervan
Road Trip On Your Bucket List
If a Minnesota campervan road trip isn’t already on your bucket list, it should be! It’s like camping but even better.
Things are made extra convenient by having everything you need with you throughout the day.
And you can live out your van life dreams without the commitment.
We rented a van from Voyager Campervans. They have a location in Minneapolis and provide everything you need for your trip. Your rental includes bedding, pillows, lawn chairs and more.

Not only is staying in a campervan adventurous and fun, it’s a great way to travel on a budget as well.
You can skip the costly hotel. And no need for restaurants.
Just park your van somewhere with an epic view and cook your meals in the back on the portable stove and slide out counter top!
Voyager Campervans come fully equipped with all your cooking gear (dishes, pans, spatula etc.) so you don’t even need to worry about packing any!
Explore cities or remote wilderness on your Minnesota campervan road trip!
We drove our Voyager Campervan around the beautiful city of Duluth but we also loved taking it farther north away from the cities.
Once you get away from the hustle and bustle of the metro, you will encounter countless state parks and endless epic hiking trails.
Just one hour north of Duluth, you can do the rocky climb out to Pellet Island. This short but adventurous hike ends with some gorgeous views over a smaller island and Lake Superior.
And if you drive along the Gunflint Trail, you’re likely to have large stretches of hiking trails and wilderness to yourself.
In fact, while we were up there, we even saw wild black bears every day!
I recommend the hike to Magnetic Rock and the lookout points on the Gunflint Lodge property which is open to the public, even if you aren’t staying in a cabin onsite.
Not to mention there are plenty of beautiful places to park for the night and sleep in your campervan along the North Shore.
Visit The Countless Lighthouses in Minnesota!
No road trip around Minnesota would be complete without stopping to see the iconic lighthouses.
Don’t miss Split Rock Lighthouse, the Grand Marais Lighthouse or the Two Harbours Lighthouse!
State parks are a must-see on your Minnesota campervan road trip!
If you head up Minnesota’s North Shore like we did, make sure you stop at Gooseberry Falls and Tettegouche State Park!
These parks are home to some great trails and awesome waterfalls. We traveled during the week and were able to avoid the crowds this way. Gooseberry Falls can be quite popular in the summer.
Other parks to consider adding to your itinerary:
- Temperance River State Park
- Cascade River State Park
- Judge CR Magney State Park
- Congdon Park in Duluth
Minnesota’s North Shore Is Home To Tons Of Scenic Lookouts
As you drive, there will be countless opportunities to pull over and take in the gorgeous views over the rocky shore line of Lake Superior.
And make sure you don’t miss the best view point: Palisade Head. It’s an easy hike with a fantastic pay off. There is signage for this iconic spot and there’s a small parking lot right on the side of the road as you drive up the North Shore.

There is plenty of room for two people in one van and your options are endless. Minnesota is full of incredible stops. Time to get out and enjoy the great outdoors!
