Hostels are a budget travelers dream. You can find insanely cheap accommodation, sometimes under $10 a night! Plus the vibe is great and very laid back. Not to mention, you are guaranteed to meet a lot of other fun and interesting travelers! It’s a hub of social activity and like minded individuals.

One way to extend your travels even further is to get a job working at a hostel in an epic location.

Longing to spend your days near the beach? Wish you were waking up in the snowy mountains? Hostels exist in every corner of the world! The jobs are relatively easy to get and require minimal previous experience.

Hostels are constantly looking for friendly, outgoing travelers to work a variety of jobs on the property- typically checking in guests, assisting with guiding tours, bar tending or cleaning.

There are thousands of hostels in the world so it can be daunting when you begin looking for travel jobs! But not to worry, there are so many resources available to assist you in your search.

One of the best places to start is with Hostel Jobs

This website is totally free and lets you make a worker profile to search and apply at thousands of hostels all over the world. Often there are over 2,000 jobs available. That’s an overwhelming amount of hostel jobs right at your fingertips.

So try narrowing your search by which climate you’d like to visit, a specific city, or line up multiple jobs as you travel around the world. Some places will want you to stay for up to 3 months while others are happy to have you for just a few weeks.

Another great resource for hostel jobs is Workaway. You can search for free, but to message the hostels you’ll have to sign up for a year long membership. Don’t worry it’s only about $44 and totally worth the price!

Workaway has thousands of hostel positions listed.

Just type in “hostel” on the search bar and page after page of hostel jobs will pop up.

Some hostels have a mix of paid positions and volunteer positions available. If you are a volunteer, you typically get free housing, some free meals, discounted excursions, and only work 4-5 hours 5 days a week. That means plenty of time off to travel and explore!

Some hostel jobs will require a visa if the position is paid.

For instance, if you want to get a job at the Flying Pig Hostels in Amsterdam, you have to be eligible to work in the EU and they will pay you an actual wage.

Other hostel jobs like this adventure hostel in Guatemala listed on Workaway will provide you with free accommodation, internet and discounted or free excursions in exchange for work. No visa is required. You are basically a volunteer living at the hostel with plenty of time off to explore Guatemala. Slumber Party Hostels have several locations across Thailand which provide volunteers with free accommodation, drinks and an absolutely wild time! They are also looking to hire blogger, vloggers, musicians, DJs, photographers and videographers.
