August 13th-20th, 2022 Split to Dubrovnik
August 20th-27th, 2022 Dubrovnik to Split
Day 1 Saturday Dubrovnik
Everyone met us in Dubrovnik at the harbour for check in, welcome drinks and to board our sailing ship, Ika. After meeting our crew and getting settled onboard, we headed into old town for a historical Game of Thrones combo tour.
While some walked the Dubrovnik walls, I took a group of girls to the my favorite photo spot in Dubrovnik. Fort Lovrijenac (or St. Lawrence Fortress) has unbeatable views over the walled city!
After a quick golden hour photoshoot, we were off to our welcome dinner at Komarda.
I love this location because it provides spectacular views over the port and Dubrovnik at sunset.
After dinner, we went to the nightclub Culture Club Revelin which is located inside a medieval fortress.
Day 2 Sunday Dubrovnik to Mljet
After a big night in Dubrovnik, most people slept as we sailed on to the island of the Mljet. When we arrived at 11am, a shuttle was waiting to drive us to the trailhead to Odysseus’ Cave, my favorite destination on the island!!
We stopped at the small supermarket by the trailhead to get supplies for a picnic lunch and began the trek down to the cave. Given that there is no road to the cave and the walk is challenging, this hidden gem is usually relatively empty. Once we arrived, we took turns cliff jumping into the clear, blue water below!
One of the girls on the trip had brought her GoPro and dome to capture these half underwater photos, thanks so much Megan 🙂
We had a picnic, swam, took pictures and chatted with the local who sells cold beverages at a little stand nearby about the Greek Mythology surrounding the cave.
After a hike back up to the shuttle bus, everyone was quite ready for dinner on board!
Our chef Ivan prepared dinner as we got ready for the sailor themed party for our night anchored out at sea. Music, drinking games and lots of laughs ensued turning our sailor night party night into a late night onboard!
Day 3 Monday Mljet to Korcula
The next day we set sail to Korcula. After breakfast, a swim stop and lunch onboard, we docked in one of my favorite ports! This tiny town makes for a fantastic stop.
We climbed St. Mark’s Cathedral, explored the winding streets, visited the Marco Polo house and the Marco Polo museum.
After, we did a group wine tasting at Wine bar Bokar. Croatia is known for its excellent wine!
After the wine tasting, we went to one of my all time favorite bars! Cocktail Massismo is a cocktail bar in a medieval tower with perfect views of the sea, old town and sunset. You’ll have to climb inside the tower to get to the spectacular views up top.
The drinks are slightly more pricey but the worth the view!
When everyone finished their drinks, we headed to a traditional Peka dinner at Konoba Belin, a family owned Croatian restaurant where we could experience authentic local cuisine.
Like the previous week, we enjoyed a night out at Jungle Bar despite it being a quiet night on the island. Our big group made anything and everything fun!
Day 4 Tuesday Korcula to Hvar
In the morning, we had breakfast and lunch onboard with our usual morning swim stop before taking a water taxi into Hvar!
Since large boats are unable to port until later in the day, we hopped aboard a little motor boat to bring us to shore so we could start our sight seeing earlier!
We shopped, ate in the main square, climbed the bell tower and toured the historic theater built in 1612.
At 6pm we all met with takeaway food to hike up to the Spanish fortress for sunset! We paid the nominal entrance fee to get into fortress so we the perfect view over Hvar from high above on the historic stone walls.
As it was getting dark, we made our way back to our boat before heading out to the famous Croatian club, Carpe Diem.
Day 5 Wednesday Hvar to Makarska
Our morning sail followed our usual routine of breakfast, sailing, swim stop then lunch.
When we arrived in Makarska, some went exploring on their own while Tessa and I led a group to the blow-up water park again. A hilarious hour of relay races, wipe outs and water fun ensued before we all went back to get ready for dinner.
That evening some people opted for Italian while others opted for seafood onboard a local fishing boat. In the evening, we went to the cave bar Deep which is always a favorite!
Day 6: Makarska to Omis
We had a morning swim with breakfast and lunch onboard again before docking in Omis! As soon as we got off the boat, we headed to go ziplining at a fantastic course high above the river and mountains!
Ziplining was a blast and the views here simply cannot be beat. Afterwards, those who were interested joined the steep and challenging hike up to Starigrad Fortress for sunset.
We paid the small entrance fee to get into the fortress and were rewarded with the more remarkable sunset I’ve ever seen!
After such a challenging hike, we had worked up an appetite and went for dinner in the town square at Konoba Kampanel.
This restaurant is a personal favorite of mine because of its location and this week, we were even treated to traditional Croatian music being performed live.
After dinner, it was off to Eol rooftop bar with it’s inexpensive, fancy drinks and scenic views of a medieval fortress!
Day 7 Omis to Split
We can an early start on the day so we could squeeze in an added excursion, white water rafting! Omis is a popular destination for rafting because not only is the Cetina River incredibly scenic, it has fun but easy enough rapids for beginners.
After a fun couple hours on the river, we boarded our ship and set sail for Split. We arrived in the afternoon and people set off exploring. Some joined a walking tour, some relaxed at the beach & others hung out on our beloved boat Ika to soak in the last day with the crew!
That evening we had a farewell dinner at FIFE and went out for one last night on the town!
Day 8 Split
The next morning we had a final breakfast onboard and said our goodbyes! Many left for day trips to the neary national parks or headed into the city before flying home.
To everyone who joined us in Croatia, THANK YOU! This trip wouldn’t have been what it was without all of you 🙂 Until next time!!
